Timber is a habit tracker. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. The short version: your habits are stored on your device and backed up to your private Timber account so you can restore them on a new phone. We don’t use analytics or advertising, and we never sell or share your information.
| What | Why | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Habits, notes, check-ins, streaks, challenges, trophies, level and settings | To run the app and back up your progress | On your device, and in your account on our cloud database |
| Account email address (only if you create an account) | To let you sign in and reset your password | In our authentication service |
| Account password | To protect your account | Never stored as typed. Only a salted, one-way hash is kept by our authentication service |
| An anonymous account ID | To link your backed-up data to you, even before you add an email | In our authentication service and cloud database |
| Coach messages (daily nudge, weekly/monthly reports) | To show your coaching | On your device only |
| The first name you give the coach | To personalise greetings and coaching | On your device only |
| Proof photos you choose to take or pick | To show your progress in Camera Roll and on each habit | On your device only. Photos are not uploaded |
Timber’s coach writes your daily nudge and weekly/monthly reports on your device. On phones that support it, it uses the AI model built into your phone (Apple Intelligence on iPhone, Gemini Nano on Android). Otherwise it’s generated from your numbers by the app itself. Your habit data is never sent anywhere to create these messages. You can turn the coach off in Settings → Coach.
You can turn any of these off at any time in your device’s settings.
Timber contains no advertising, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, and no tracking of any kind. It does not use your data to track you across apps or websites.
We keep your data for as long as your account exists.
Timber is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date.
